Implemented between April 12 and July 12, 2015, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, the project envisioned the establishment of a Sergo Kobuladze memorial study at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts; however, at this current stage, only the artist’s etching press has been transferred to the Academy.

The purpose of the presentation was to demonstrate the outcomes of the completed project, highlight the significance of the rediscovered materials, and outline a framework for the future research of the artist’s oeuvre.

The presentation was led by Mariam Gachechiladze, PhD in Art History, Head of the Contemporary Art Department at the Center, and Principal Investigator of the project. The project team members included Tamar Belashvili, PhD, Sopio Chitorelidze, PhD, and Nodar Aronishidze, MA in Art History.

In conjunction with the project presentation, a two-day exhibition titled The Unknown Sergo Kobuladze was organized in the Center’s Ars Georgica exhibition hall. The exposition featured previously unknown works created by the artist across various years, including sketches, compositions, and designs for theatrical sets and costumes.

The project presentation underscored that Sergo Kobuladze’s creative legacy demands further research and scholarly examination. As an initial phase within the scope of 2016, it is highly recommended to compile and publish an album-catalogue titled The Unknown Sergo Kobuladze. The book launch would ideally take place alongside a comprehensive retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery, bringing together both the artist’s iconic works and his newly discovered pieces for the general public.

The presentation was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, artists, staff members from various museums and the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, as well as the interested public.

On December 24, 2015, the conference hall of the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre hosted the presentation of the project titled Inventorying and Preparing the Contents of Sergo Kobuladze’s Studio for Relocation to the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.
