Dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Niko Pirosmanashvili (Pirosmani), this initiative focuses on the interdisciplinary study of the painter&#8217;s artistic phenomenon.<\/p><p>On December 13, 2012, within the framework of a joint initiative between the Chubinashvili Centre and the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, a round table and publication exhibition titled <em>Pirosmani\u2019s Artistic Form<\/em><em> \u2013 <\/em><em>Genesis and Essence<\/em> was held, engaging nine scholars representing various research and academic institutions.<\/p><p>The International Interdisciplinary Conference <strong><em>Pirosmani and Georgian Culture<\/em><\/strong> will take place on November 5\u20138, 2013. The academic program will include both thematic sessions dedicated exclusively to Pirosmani and open sessions. Presentations within the open sessions will focus broadly on the multifaceted study of the specific cultural environment (primarily Tbilisi) at the turn of the 20th century in which the phenomenon of Pirosmani emerged.<\/p><p>The conference is supported by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. A diverse program of cultural and public events will be hosted by partner institutions, including the Georgian National Museum, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, the National Archives of Georgia, the State Museum of Georgian Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography, and the State Folklore Centre of Georgia.<\/p><p>By April 1, 2014, a peer-reviewed volume of collected academic papers based on selected conference materials dedicated to Pirosmani will be published. Papers from the open sessions will be published in <em>Ars Georgica<\/em>, the electronic peer-reviewed journal of the Chubinashvili Centre.<\/p><p><strong>Submission Guidelines:<\/strong> Prospective participants are requested to submit abstracts in both Georgian and English (up to one page each) no later than <strong>July 1<\/strong>. Submissions must specify the preferred presentation format:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Oral Presentation:<\/strong> Slide show accompanied by a 5\u201310 page text manuscript (Sylfaen font, size 11, line spacing 1.5). Presentation length is strictly limited to 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.<\/li><li><strong>Poster Presentation:<\/strong> Deadline for full submission is October 1, requiring a 4\u20137 page text manuscript (Sylfaen font, size 11, line spacing 1.5) and 5\u201310 illustrations.<\/li><\/ul><p>Following the review of abstracts, the Conference Scientific Council reserves the right to reject submissions or suggest a reassignment between oral and poster categories. Authors will be notified of the committee\u2019s decision by <strong>July 15<\/strong>.
