In the Residential Architecture category, the award was granted to the project \u201c<strong>Svan Towers \u2013 Georgia<\/strong>\u201d, which had been submitted by the Italian side.<\/p><p>Following an invitation from Mr. Vincenzo Pavan, Curator of the \u201cInternational Award Architecture in Stone\u201d, Giorgi Patashuri, a researcher at the George Chubinashvili Centre, actively participated in the preparation of the project. He compiled and transmitted the measured drawings, architectural drafts, settlement site plans, photographic materials, and the accompanying English descriptive text to the project team.<\/p><p>The project \u201cSvan Towers \u2013 Georgia\u201d has been featured in the compendium of winning entries titled <em>Glocal Stone, 2011<\/em>.<\/p><p>The award ceremony was attended by Mr. Nikoloz Rurua, the Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia.<\/p><p>The George Chubinashvili Centre commissioned its young researcher, Giorgi Patashuri, who specializes in the architecture of Svaneti, to compile the required documentation. This material included a concise history of Svaneti, typologies of the towers, architectural drawings (floor plans and cross-sections), site plans of fortified settlements, an art-historical study, and both archival and contemporary photographic materials. The entire body of work was translated into English and dispatched to Italy exactly one month later, in July.
