The Center is participating as an institutional partner in the international project PORTUS. Black Sea Cultural Port in Action, which was submitted in 2017 to the European Union’s Black Sea Basin Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) Programme. The lead beneficiary organization is the European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM), based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Pending approval, project implementation is scheduled to commence in 2018. This initiative represents a logical continuation of two prior international projects implemented between 2012 and 2015: OLKAS. From the Aegean to the Black Sea – Medieval Ports in the Maritime Routes of the East and LIMEN. Cultural Ports from the Aegean to the Black Sea, in both of which the G. Chubinashvili Center participated as a core partner.
