On April 1, 2011, at the Europe House (Tbilisi, 2 Shalva Dadiani St.), a presentation of new books published by the G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre was held, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the G. Chubinashvili Institute of Georgian Art History (currently the National Research Centre).
Mariam Didebulidze, Director of the G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre, welcomed the audience. She spoke about the establishment of the Institute, its founders, the representatives of the older generation, and the current activities of the Centre.
Speeches were delivered by art historians Teimuraz Sakvarelidze, the last director of the Institute of Georgian Art History, and Dimitri Tumanishvili. They noted the importance of the Institute (currently the Centre) in the fundamental research and popularization of cultural heritage, discussed past experiences, and outlined future paths for the development of the Centre’s activities.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Mariam Didebulidze, Director of the Centre, congratulated Mr. Teimuraz Sakvarelidze on his 80th birthday.
