On September 5th, at the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation, a lecture was delivered by Dr. Erkan Kambek, a specialist in architectural restoration from Istanbul’s İstinye University. The event was organized by the Heritage Conservation Laboratory. His presentation was titled: “The Restoration of Sheikh Ahmed Kamil Efendi’s Building: The Wall Paintings of the Tevhidhane.”
The event was held with the support of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, within the framework of the project “Research and Development of Conservation Recommendations for Wall Paintings and Decorative Elements Found in Islamic Architectural Monuments on the Territory of Georgia” (FR-24-26235), which won the 2025 Fundamental Research Grant Competition.
