The Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Center for the History of Georgian Art and Monuments Protection hosted an international conference “Beyond Understanding: 1989 in East-Central Europe – Georgian Art between War and Revolution”.
The conference was organized by the Piotr Piotrowski East-Central Europe Art Research Center in collaboration with the Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Center for the History of Georgian Art and Monuments Protection. The focus was on recent Georgian art, which is currently underrepresented in European art studies.
The event was opened by Mzia Chikhradze, a researcher at the Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Center for the History of Georgian Art and Monuments Protection. The public was also addressed by Mariam Didebulidze, Chairwoman of the Center’s Scientific Council, Giorgi Papashvili, PhD candidate at Rutgers University, and Magdalena Radomska, Director of the Piotr Piotrowski East-Central European Art Research Center.
The goal of the conference was to deepen the understanding of the connection between war and revolution in contemporary European art.
In parallel with the conference, a personal exhibition of Guram Tsibakhashvili was opened in the exhibition hall of the Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Center for the History of Georgian Art and Monument Protection.
