Goga Maglakelidze is a prominent representative of the 1980s generation of Georgian artists. He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1986 and was a member of the artistic collective Archivarius. Since 1988, his creative focus has centered extensively on religious themes, later extending to the execution of ecclesiastical art objects. Within this domain, his most extensive project to date is the monumental wall painting of the St. George Church in the village of Vachevi, painted between 2013 and 2014. In conjunction with the ongoing exhibition at the Center’s gallery, a seminar was organized addressing Maglakelidze’s artistic oeuvre and contemporary challenges within ecclesiastical art, featuring a presentation by the artist himself.
