From May 28 to June 6 of the current year, a summer school was held in Tbilisi for students of the Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), led by the renowned specialist in the field, Professor Donovan Rypkema. The summer school was organized with the participation of Batumi State University and ICOMOS Georgia.
On May 31, the group of students visited the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre. Maia Mania, Senior Researcher of the Centre, delivered a lecture on the architecture of the city of Tbilisi according to the issues related to its preservation. Mariam Didebulidze introduced the history of the George Chubinashvili Centre, its objectives, and the directions of its scholarly research. The students also visited the Centre’s library and photo archive.
The American students were presented with the book Ancient Georgian Art, published by the Centre, as a gift.
