Tbilisi 2004
Annotation: The present volume is the third collection of writings by Dimitri Tumanishvili, a renowned scholar and distinguished researcher in the fields of art and cultural history. The previous two collections were published quite some time ago, during the author’s lifetime (Writings, Essays, Tbilisi, 2001; At the Crossroads: Writings, Essays, Tbilisi, 2008). This book brings together texts written between 2008 and 2019, which were not included in the earlier collections. The essays presented here were originally published in various journals and anthologies, many of which are now difficult to access.
This collection encompasses some of Dimitri Tumanishvili’s most significant studies, each of which holds considerable scholarly value. The included articles are marked by thematic diversity, covering research on medieval, early modern, and contemporary Georgian architecture and visual arts, as well as addressing the theory and practice of cultural heritage, the historiography of art, and axiology.
