    Zakaria Maisuradze

    By chubinaengadmin on November 27, 2025

    (1912, Tbilisi – 1971, Tbilisi)
    Ceramist. Merited Artist of Georgia (1967). One of the most prominent representatives of Georgian ceramic art, his work was thematically connected to Georgian folklore—particularly folk tales. Z. Maisuradze studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (1932–1938), where he also taught (1939–1959). His deep interest in medieval Georgian ceramics brought him into close collaboration with the Institute of Georgian Art History, where he worked from 1944 until 1971 and headed the Department of Applied Arts.

    Selected works:
    • Series Deer (1952–1960), preserved in the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Painting;
    • Compositions on themes from Georgian folk tales (small-scale sculpture, 1952–1955);
    • Decorative panel Harvesting (1953), Georgian Museum of Fine Arts;
    • Decorative composition Berikaoba, executed on ceramic tiles (1957–1959), National Gallery of Painting.
