On December 12, 2012, a scientific conference titled Bichvinta was held in the auditorium of the Simon Janashia State Museum of Georgia. Co-organized by the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre and Sokhumi State University, the event was dedicated to the double jubilee of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II—the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan Bishop of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia—marking his 80th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his enthronement.
