On 27 March 2012, the Georgian National Academy of Sciences hosted the public discussion of the 2011 annual activity report of the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation. The session was attended by Academician Tamaz Gamkrelidze, President of the Academy of Sciences; Academician Guram Tevzadze, Vice-President; Academician Roin Metreveli, and other prominent scholars.
Dr. Mariam Didebulidze, Director of the Chubinashvili Research Centre, delivered the keynote report on the institution’s accomplishments. The presentation delineated the comprehensive history of the Centre (formerly the Institute), outlining its core objectives, fields of operation, developmental phases, institutional challenges, and academic achievements.
Following the presentation, Academician Lia Melikishvili delivered an evaluation and official concluding assessment regarding the Centre’s accomplishments. The session concluded with a discussion on the structural challenges facing the institution, balanced against the significant advancements achieved in recent years due to improved funding and the allocation of a permanent building by the government, which resolved the Centre’s twenty-year period of displacement.
