From 22 to 27 August 2011, Sofia, Bulgaria, hosted the 22nd International Congress of Byzantine Studies, which brought together over 1,000 scholars from various countries. Among those invited to participate were researchers from the George Chubinashvili Centre:

Mariam Didebulidze, PhD – ‘The Influence of Anti-Heretical Theological Controversies on the Iconographic Programme of the Wall Paintings in the Church of St Nicholas at Kintsvisi’
The Centre’s researchers actively participated in the congress proceedings and visited museums in Sofia along with the exhibitions organized in conjunction with the event. They also travelled to Plovdiv, the Bachkovo Monastery, and the Boyana Monastery. Furthermore, they distributed books published by the George Chubinashvili Centre, along with their respective abstracts, among the congress attendees, renewing established academic ties and forging new academic contacts.
