The G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation participated in the preparation and submission of the project OLKAS. From the Aegean to the Black Sea – Medieval Ports in the Maritime Routes of the East, which is based on an international partnership. The project was submitted by Greece (European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments, Thessaloniki), with the participation of academic and research institutions from Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Ukraine. The duration of the project is two years.
In 2011, the project secured a grant in the first call for proposals conducted within the framework of the European Union’s “Black Sea Basin Cross-Border Cooperation Programme” (Black Sea Joint Operational Programme).
In connection with this, an award ceremony was held on May 23 of the current year at the Government Chancery building. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the winning projects by the State Minister of Georgia for Euro-Atlantic Integration, Mr. Giorgi Baramidze.
