    The Memorandum

By chubinaengadmin on January 22, 2026

The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Giorgi Chubinashvili Georgian National Research Center for the Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation and the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz –Max-Planck-Institut has been renewed.

The Chubinashvili Center and the the Max-Planck-Institut have a long-standing partnership, through which several significant projects have been realised, including international conferences, summer schools, and internships for young Georgian researchers.

Of particular note is the series of lectures dedicated to Georgian art held in the format of the Max-Planck-Institut (Aesthetics, Art and Architecture in the Caucasus Lecture Series). We would also like to highlight the photo archive of Georgian art created and held by the Max-Planck-Institut, which is available to view on their website and plays an important role in the scientific research of Georgian art. Enrichment of the photo archive is planned within the framework of future cooperation.

The cooperation between the Chubinashvili Center and the Max-Planck-Institut is also important in the Gelati Monastery rehabilitation project.
