The International Forum on Medieval Art, held on September 18–21 at the University of Bern (Switzerland), hosted two sessions dedicated to Georgia. The sessions were organized by the University of Fribourg as a continuation of the seasonal school project “Tao-Klarjeti: History and Heritage, Movable and Immovable Monuments.”
The panels dedicated to Georgia, entitled Georgia as a Bridge between Cultures: Dynamics of Artistic Exchange, were chaired by Dr. Manuela Studer-Karlen and Dr. Thomas Kaffenberger of the University of Fribourg.
On behalf of the Chubinashvili Centre, papers were presented by Nino Chichinadze, Ekaterine Gedevanishvili, Irene Giviashvili, Natalia Chitishvili, Irma Mamasakhlisi, and Tamar Dadiani.
The sessions dedicated to Georgia drew significant interest from Western scholars; the presentations were delivered to packed auditoriums and were followed by extensive discussions.
