Limen: Cultural Ports from the Aegean to the Black Sea

By chubinaengadmin on November 27, 2014

On November 27–28, 2014, Istanbul hosted the 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the international project Limen: Cultural Ports from the Aegean to the Black Sea. Representing the Georgian side were M. Janjalia and M. Bulia from the project’s partner organization—the G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation.

During the meeting, the partner institutions presented progress reports on the activities conducted during the previous phase of the project. These included preparations for founding the “Black Sea Cultural Port” institution, establishing local networks of participating organizations, and implementing training sessions for member organizations within these local networks. The activities carried out by the Georgian team (presented by M. Janjalia) were recognized as highly successful, receiving outstanding evaluations from both the lead beneficiary institution—the European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM, Thessaloniki)—and all project partners.

The assembly also deliberated on matters concerning the subsequent development of the project, defining its future goals and objectives. Key discussion points included standardizing promotional publications (brochures and leaflets) regarding the Black Sea Cultural Ports, addressing organizational arrangements for upcoming workshops in Odessa and Varna, and planning the promotional cruise and final closing symposium intended to popularize the Black Sea Cultural Ports initiative.
